Turkish CEO for Vietnam’s New Airport Project
Yusuf Akçayoğlu has been appointed as CEO of the Gia Bình International Airport project, which is being constructed in northern Vietnam, near Hanoi.
In the mega project, with a total investment value of approximately $6 billion, Akçayoğlu will be responsible for both the construction and operation processes of the airport.
First Phase to Be Operational in 2028
The first phase of the project is planned to be completed and put into service in August 2028. The airport, which will be developed in two phases, is targeted to reach an annual passenger capacity of 100 million.
With this capacity, Gia Bình Airport is expected to become one of the largest aviation hubs in the region.
Stood Out with Istanbul Airport Experience
Yusuf Akçayoğlu previously served as CEO of the Istanbul Airport project and played a significant role in the construction process of one of the world’s largest airport projects.
Actively involved from the design phase through to the first flights in 2018, Akçayoğlu stood out for his contribution to completing the project on time.
Vietnam Aims to Become a Regional Transfer Hub
With its new airport investment, Vietnam aims to become a major transfer hub in Asia. In this context, the project is planned to compete with regional hubs such as:

- Hong Kong International Airport
