Experts from Yakovlev PJSC, part of the Rostec State Corporation, have begun comprehensive flight tests of the latest MS-21 passenger aircraft in Russia’s northern regions. The purpose of the tests was stated as verifying the aircraft’s performance and the effectiveness of its safety systems under severe climatic conditions.
Flight Scenarios in Challenging Geographies
As part of the test flights, two MS-21 aircraft with tail numbers 73054 and 64509 conducted operations over the surface of the Ob Gulf and in the mountainous areas of the Vorkuta region. The crew simulated various approach and conflict scenarios under low temperatures, strong winds, and variable visibility conditions.
Integration with Next-Generation Domestic Systems
The MS-21 with serial number 73054 tested not only flight range and maneuverability but also the accuracy of interactions with domestic systems at different altitudes and ground types. These activities are particularly important for optimizing air traffic safety and collision avoidance technologies.
Yakovlev PJSC emphasized that the tests will provide crucial data to enhance flight safety for civil aviation operations.
