UEC Develops Mobile Test Platform for AI-222-25 Engines

UEC, part of Rostec, has developed a mobile test platform for AI-222-25 engines used in Yak-130 aircraft. The new system accelerates the maintenance process by enabling on-site engine testing.

Engineers at United Engine Corporation (UEC), part of Rostec, have announced the development of an innovative mobile test platform for the AI-222-25 aircraft engine. These engines are used in Russian-made Yak-130 trainer aircraft and are produced in series at UEC-Salut facilities entirely from domestically sourced materials.

On-Site Testing Convenience and Operational Efficiency

The new mobile test unit allows engine tests to be conducted directly at operational airfields after maintenance or repair, without returning them to the manufacturer. This simplifies logistics while saving both time and costs.

UEC specialists stated that the system is designed to replicate real engine operating conditions accurately. The platform can monitor critical engine parameters in real time, including rotor speed, vibrations in the front and rear bearings, exhaust gas temperature, and oil and fuel pressure.

Advantage of Rapid Deployment

According to UEC, the mobile test platform is portable and can be deployed quickly. This feature enables field maintenance teams to perform engine tests in a short time, maintaining operational continuity.

Domestic Production and Technological Independence

The fully domestically produced AI-222-25 engines contribute significantly to the Russian aviation industry’s goal of technological independence. UEC also announced that the platform could be adapted for other engine types in the future.
