Vietnam, which has experienced rapid growth in tourism in recent years, has taken a significant step towards the Kazakh market. According to an announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the Governments of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Kazakhstan have transitioned to a visa-free regime starting from May 25, 2024.
Under the agreement, citizens holding ordinary passports from both countries will be able to stay visa-free for up to one month from the date of first entry and for 90 days within six months of entry. This move is expected to further strengthen tourism and trade relations between Vietnam and Kazakhstan.
The number of Kazakh tourists traveling to Vietnam with package tours, which was 62,000 last year, is expected to reach 100,000 by the end of this year. This increase is anticipated to be driven by the visa-free travel agreement boosting tourist flows. The Visa-Free Travel Agreement will also contribute to Vietnam’s goal of enhancing its tourism potential and achieving a more competitive position in regional tourism.
