Emirates has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) to promote flights to Turkey and increase the number of visitors to the country.
This agreement, aimed at further enhancing Turkey’s tourist appeal in new and existing source markets, was signed by Thierry Aucoc, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Europe at Emirates, and İsmail Bütün, General Manager of TGA. Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President of Revenue Optimization and Distribution, also attended the signing ceremony.
Under the new agreement, Emirates and TGA will collaborate to promote tourism to Turkey and increase passenger traffic from key markets within the airline’s global network of over 140 destinations. Emirates will explore opportunities to organize promotional trips to Turkey and collaborate with TGA on joint marketing and promotional campaigns to highlight Turkey’s uniqueness and enhance its visibility.

İsmail Bütün, General Manager of Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), stated, “In 2023, Turkey welcomed 56.7 million visitors, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous year. 2023 was the best year for our sector to date. Istanbul became one of the world’s most visited cities with 17.4 million foreign visitors. In the first quarter of 2024, which continues to see growth, we attracted more than 9 million visitors. Thus, the number of tourists from January to March increased by 16.7% compared to the same period last year. The new partnership between Emirates and TGA will further support the growing tourism sector and create new opportunities for future growth.”
Emirates currently operates 21 weekly flights to Istanbul with Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 passenger aircraft. The airline also offers passengers the opportunity to fly twice daily between Dubai and Sabiha Gökçen Airport through its codeshare agreement with flydubai.
