A Boeing 767 operated by Uzbekistan Airways on the Tashkent–Vladivostok route made an emergency landing at Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Airport on 21 January. All 122 people on board were safely evacuated.
The Uzbekistan Airways Boeing 767-300 passenger aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Krasnoyarsk Airport in Russia on 21 January during its flight from Tashkent to Vladivostok. The incident was announced via the official Telegram channel of Krasnoyarsk Airport.
According to officials, there were 101 passengers, five flight crew members and 16 cabin crew members on board. Airport authorities confirmed that the aircraft landed safely and that no injuries were reported. Following the landing, passengers were taken through border and customs procedures and then transferred to the public area of the terminal.
The aircraft was temporarily taken out of service pending a technical inspection. It was reported that Uzbekistan Airways would dispatch a replacement aircraft to complete the Vladivostok flight.
In an update later the same day, it was announced that the stranded passengers had been accommodated in local hotels and provided with meals. As of 17:45 local time, the replacement aircraft was expected to arrive in Krasnoyarsk in the early hours of the morning on 22 January. In a subsequent official statement, it was confirmed that the replacement aircraft departed Krasnoyarsk at 07:11 on 22 January.
Uzbekistan Airways has not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the technical malfunction that led to the emergency landing.
This incident followed another serious aviation safety case in the region earlier in the month. On 10 January, Pobeda Airlines flight PBD997 operating the Moscow–Samarkand route and Uzbekistan Airways flight UZB9609 flying the Termez–Moscow route experienced a potential conflict in the airspace over Shymkent in southern Kazakhstan. According to Kazinform, the incident was classified as “serious” under Kazakhstan’s aviation safety regulations, and an official investigation was launched.
