Ukrainian Companies Join Turkey’s KAAN Aircraft

Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Ankara, made significant remarks on cooperation and projects between Turkey and Ukraine during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center. Bodnar noted the involvement of Ukrainian companies in the development of Turkey’s next-generation fifth-generation fighter aircraft, KAAN.

Ambassador Bodnar stated, “Ukrainian companies are participating in the development of the KAAN fighter jet. They are involved in the development of engines and various components for this aircraft. For security reasons, we are not disclosing detailed information at this time.” He emphasized the importance of this collaboration, suggesting that it could also attract interest from the Ukrainian Air Force after delivery to the Turkish Armed Forces.

Additionally, Bodnar mentioned, “This collaboration could also involve the production of new unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine at the new factory of Baykar Makina.” The Ambassador highlighted that Turkish companies like Baykar Makina and TUSAŞ purchase jet and turbojet engines from Ukrainian companies, and are also engaged in a project for helicopter engines. He added that Ukrainian companies Motor Sich and Ivchenko Progress are key partners in this project.
