Two Istanbul Airports Made a Mark at the Top of the Europe List

According to EUROCONTROL’s Europe Aviation Report for 24–30 November, Istanbul Airport became the busiest airport in Europe with 1,459 flights per day. Sabiha Gökçen International Airport ranked 9th.

The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) published the “Europe Aviation Report” covering the period 24–30 November. According to the report, Istanbul Airport took the lead among Europe’s busiest airports during the period, with an average of 1,459 flights per day.

According to the list, Istanbul Airport was followed by:

  • London Heathrow with 1,288 flights daily,
  • Amsterdam Schiphol with 1,259 flights,
  • Paris Charles de Gaulle with 1,221 flights,
  • Frankfurt Airport with 1,193 flights.

During the same period, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport in Istanbul also recorded 738 flights per day, ranking as the 9th busiest airport in Europe.

EUROCONTROL’s data highlight Turkey’s strong position in aviation, while the two major Istanbul airports maintain their significant places in Europe’s traffic rankings.
