Passenger and cargo aircraft operating two separate international flights were diverted to Heydar Aliyev International Airport after requesting forced landings. It was reported that the incidents occurred due to a passenger’s medical condition in one case and unfavourable meteorological conditions in the other.
Finnair Aircraft Lands in Baku Due to Passenger Medical Emergency
According to aviation reports, the captain of a Finnair aircraft operating the Helsinki–Phuket flight requested a forced landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport after a passenger on board experienced a sudden deterioration in health.
The Airbus A350 aircraft landed safely at the airport at 00:54 local time in Baku (23:54 TRT). Following the landing, the passenger immediately received first medical assistance and was taken to a clinic in the city for treatment.
It was announced that the aircraft continued its flight to Phuket at 02:59 (01:59 TRT) after the necessary procedures were completed.
Cargolux Aircraft Diverted Due to Weather Conditions
On the same day, a cargo aircraft operated by Cargolux Airlines on the Zhengzhou–Ashgabat route was also diverted to Baku due to unfavourable weather conditions at its destination.
The Boeing 747 aircraft made a safe landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport at 08:32 local time in Baku (07:32 TRT).
All Procedures Carried Out in Accordance with International Standards
In a statement made by airport authorities, it was emphasised that both forced landing processes were carried out in full compliance with established procedures and international aviation safety standards. It was stated that flight safety and passenger health were the top priorities.
