TUSAŞ, Continues Development of Autonomous Arm Flight (OKU) Concept

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has announced that it is continuing its development efforts on the Autonomous Arm Flight (OKU) aimed at acquiring new products. According to a statement in the TUSAŞ Corporate Communications Magazine:

“The development work continues on the Autonomous Arm Flight (OKU), where cutting-edge technologies are used at the highest level, which will be a significant factor in ensuring the superiority of air forces in the operational environment estimated for the present and the next 10 years. The concept, which started with the National Combat Aircraft KAAN and ANKA III, is planned to evolve into a Turkish Aerospace Industries product and standard in the future, to be used in other platforms as well.”

The AWC Concept aims to enable manned and unmanned systems to operate together, providing a more effective solution against the increasing complexity of air operations and threats. In this concept, technologies developed or to be developed by TUSAŞ will be used to enable manned and unmanned platforms to operate in a team formation in the operational environment.

TUSAŞ utilizes artificial intelligence, autonomy, sensor and data fusion, communication, precision navigation, and human-machine interface technologies in the Autonomous Arm Flight (OKU) Concept. It is planned to incorporate these technologies into all products.

The project started with the National Combat Aircraft KAAN and ANKA III platforms, and the implementation of the Autonomous Arm Flight (OKU) Concept on these platforms is targeted. TUSAŞ outlines the objectives of the Autonomous Arm Flight (OKU) Concept as follows:

Enhancing the effectiveness of the pilot in the operational environment to reduce risk and keep pilot workload at an acceptable level. Developing the Autonomous Arm Flight (OKU) Concept not only as a single-platform focus but as a Turkish Aerospace Industries product and standard at the product family level. Utilizing technology at the highest level and rapidly incorporating new technologies into the concept.
