Turumbu Scandal: 800 People Defrauded, Victims Call for Legal Action

Turumbu, a travel company that gained trust through its TÜRSAB certification and the satisfaction it provided on past tours, collected money from approximately 800 people with promises of tours. However, many participants were left victimized either before or during the trips.

According to victims, some travelers paid but never attended the tour, while others were abandoned midway. In some cases, tour guides even spent tens of thousands of lira from their own pockets to prevent further harm to the travelers.

Bankruptcy Announced via WhatsApp Message

The company informed victims of its bankruptcy solely through a WhatsApp message. Despite still appearing active in official records, the company’s listed address is empty. Nevertheless, it continues online sales under different names and maintains a presence on social media.

This situation highlights that effective legal measures to prevent similar frauds have still not been implemented. Many only learned of the company’s bankruptcy by chance while trying to make a payment.

“Legal Loopholes Must Be Closed”

Victims emphasize that Turumbu gained trust by leveraging TÜRSAB guarantees and has now defrauded hundreds of families. Their demands include:

• Immediate closure of legal loopholes

• Ensuring fraudulent companies are held accountable

• Restitution of victims’ rights

Legal Proceedings Underway

Victims have submitted all documents and complaints to prosecutors. While the legal struggle continues across Turkey, this issue is seen not only as a matter for the victims but as one affecting the rights of all citizens.
