One of the busiest airports in Türkiye and Europe, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport achieved a new milestone by reaching the highest daily flight traffic in its history with 894 flight movements recorded on May 31, 2026.
As one of the rising values of both the aviation industry and Türkiye, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport once again proved its operational capability and strategic position in the region. The intense air traffic recorded on Sunday, May 31, with a total of 894 domestic and international takeoffs and landings, was registered as the highest number of flights ever reached in a single day in the airport’s history. As a result of the meticulous coordination carried out by the Airport Authority HEAŞ and Terminal Operator Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG), both the holiday traffic and the record-breaking operation were managed smoothly.
While HEAŞ effectively managed all operational processes ranging from air traffic control services to apron management, technical infrastructure, and airspace safety, ISG teams on the terminal side carried out operations, security, cleaning, guidance, and passenger comfort services on a 24-hour basis. Thus, the heavy holiday traffic period was successfully completed without any operational disruptions.
This record, supporting the airport’s increasing capacity utilization, once again confirmed the strategic position of Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and the strength of its technological infrastructure.
