Turkey controls 65% of the global drone market, a success driven by Baykar’s innovative approach and robust export performance. Selçuk Bayraktar stated that the company has been the world’s largest drone manufacturer for three years, leaving its closest competitors behind.
Bayraktar TB2: A Symbol of Global Success
Bayraktar TB2, one of Baykar’s flagship products, has gained international recognition for its effectiveness in conflict zones. The drone drew significant attention for its crucial role in Ukraine’s defense against Russia. Known as the world’s most exported combat drone, TB2 strengthens Baykar’s position as a leading exporter.

Record Export Revenues
As of 2023, Baykar derived 90% of its revenue from international markets. The company’s exports increased from $1.2 billion in the previous year to $1.8 billion. Baykar has secured export deals with 34 countries for Bayraktar TB2 and with 10 countries for the more advanced Akıncı combat drones. This growth in defense exports contributed to a record-breaking $5.5 billion in industry sales, accounting for nearly one-third of Turkey’s industrial exports.
Technological Innovations: Kızılelma and TB3
Baykar continues to make a mark not only with its existing drone models but also with groundbreaking technologies. The Kızılelma unmanned combat aircraft completed its first flight at the end of 2022 and has recently entered mass production. Moreover, the Bayraktar TB3, designed for use on short-runway warships, successfully performed its first takeoff and landing on such a vessel last month.
