The Turkish Communications Directorate’s Disinformation Combat Centre has announced that the recent claims circulating in some media outlets and social media platforms about “six planes full of arms being sent from Turkey to Pakistan” are untrue.
In an official statement, it was emphasised that these claims are entirely unfounded. Turkish officials stated, “The reports in some media outlets claiming that Turkey has sent six planes full of arms to Pakistan are not true.”
The statement also clarified that a cargo plane departing from Turkey made a planned landing in Pakistan solely for refuelling purposes. Officials noted, “After refuelling, the plane continued its journey along its scheduled route.”
The Disinformation Combat Centre urged the public to rely only on statements from authorised persons and institutions and advised against giving credence to speculative and unverified news.
Background of the Claims
This statement was made following reports in some media outlets that Turkey had sent large quantities of arms to Pakistan during the regional tensions between India and Pakistan. Officials specifically stressed that these reports are baseless and not based on official data.
