Turkish Cargo Achieves LEED Platinum Operations Certification

Turkish Airlines’ cargo brand, Turkish Cargo, has earned the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) v4.1 O+M: EB Operations Certification, aligning with its commitments to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Priorities of Sustainability and Environmental Awareness

Ali Türk, the Chief Cargo Officer of Turkish Airlines, emphasized that acting with sustainability and environmental awareness is among their top priorities. He highlighted their determination to ensure that the SMARTIST cargo facility, with its high capacity and advanced technology, remains a sustainable and human-centric facility.

Platinum Certification: Reducing Carbon Footprint

He stated that the platinum certification, the highest level in LEED ratings, is a significant indicator of Turkish Airlines’ commitment to reducing its carbon footprint as a global carrier.

Technological Advancement of SMARTIST Facility

SMARTIST stands out as one of the world’s most technologically advanced facilities. The Computer-Controlled Automatic Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) enables the storage and transportation of cargo without the need for operators or forklifts. Additionally, ULD (Unit Load Device) storage operations are carried out through an automated ULD Storage System.

Advantages of LEED Platinum Operations Certification

The LEED v4.1 O+M: EB Platinum Operations Certification is designed to continuously improve energy, water, material, and indoor air quality while reducing environmental impacts. By enhancing energy and water efficiency and improving indoor air quality, the SMARTIST facility aims to reduce operational costs while achieving its sustainability goals.
