Turkish Airlines (THY) is resuming its Aleppo flights on April 22 following the reopening of airspace in the Middle East. The first flight will depart from Istanbul Airport.
Airspace in the Middle East is reopening
Turkish Airlines (THY) has decided to resume its Aleppo flights, which were suspended following the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. The gradual reopening of airspace, which had been closed to civilian flights due to tensions that began on February 28, has paved the way for airline operations in the region to return to normal.
Aleppo route back in the flight schedule
Following these developments, THY announced that it will resume Aleppo flights as of April 22. It was also observed that ticket sales for Aleppo flights have been opened on the official Turkish Airlines website.
First flight from Istanbul in the morning
As part of the resumed operations, the first flight is scheduled to depart from Istanbul Airport at 07:40 on April 22. With this flight, THY’s operations on the Syria route are expected to gradually increase.
A signal of regional normalisation
The decision by THY to resume Aleppo flights has also become an important indicator of gradual normalisation in Middle Eastern airspace. The reopening of airspace is expected to contribute to strengthening regional connectivity and may help accelerate the recovery of business and humanitarian travel in particular.
