According to the results of the 2025 On-Time Departure Performance Evaluation announced by aviation data and analytics company Cirium, Turkish Airlines (THY) ranked among the world’s most punctual airlines. Achieving an on-time arrival rate of 81.41% across more than 421,000 flights operated throughout the year, THY rose to 9th place in the global ranking.
Published continuously for 17 years, the Cirium evaluation is based on the analysis of flight data obtained from more than 600 real-time sources, including airlines, airports, global distribution systems and civil aviation authorities. The process is overseen by an independent advisory board composed of experienced figures from the aviation industry.
According to Cirium’s methodology, for a flight to be considered on time, it must arrive within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of the scheduled gate arrival time. This criterion is regarded as a key performance indicator, particularly for carriers with extensive route networks and high operational complexity.
THY in the Top 10 Despite High Operational Complexity
Operating flights to hundreds of destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, Turkish Airlines managed to enter Cirium’s top 10 ranking despite running one of the world’s largest flight networks. Experts note that this result demonstrates THY’s operational discipline, crisis management capability and flight planning proficiency.
Cirium’s Platinum assessment criteria take into account not only punctuality, but also network scale, the level of operational difficulty, the impact on passengers during periods of disruption, and consistency throughout the year. Within this framework, THY’s performance stands out as a remarkable achievement among large-scale airlines.
Strong Position in Global Competition
In the Cirium 2025 list, Turkish Airlines outperformed global competitors such as Qatar Airways, Iberia, LATAM and Delta Air Lines, emerging as one of the leading carriers among airlines based in Europe and the Middle East.
