Turkish Airlines has decided to invest 42 million dollars in the DB Agricultural project for the production of sustainable aviation fuel. The project is targeted to be completed in 2026.
Sustainable Fuel Move from THY
Turkish Airlines has made an important investment decision within the scope of its sustainability goals. It was reported that the company will invest in the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project carried out by DB Agricultural Energy and Trade Inc. under the “DB Agricultural” brand.
In the statement made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), it was stated that the investment in question will be carried out to develop SAF production and supply infrastructure.
A 40 Percent Stake is Planned to be Acquired
In the statement, it was noted that Turkish Airlines aims to acquire approximately a 40 percent stake in the relevant company within the scope of the project.
It was recorded that the investment will be carried out through methods of allocated capital increase and partial share transfer, and the total investment amount will be approximately 42 million US dollars.
An Annual Production Capacity of 100 Thousand Tons is Foreseen
It was reported that, with the project, it is planned to establish a facility with an annual production capacity of approximately 100 thousand tons of sustainable aviation fuel.
The fuel to be produced is expected to contribute to Turkish Airlines’ carbon emission reduction targets and support the optimization of operational costs.
Offtake Agreements Are on the Agenda
The statement also noted that agreements including purchase guarantees for the long-term supply of the fuel to be produced are planned.
It was conveyed that the investment process will proceed following the completion of the necessary legal permits and approvals, and it is aimed to be finalized within 2026.
