Turkish Airlines (THY) has announced new plans to expand its operations in the United States. Starting from June 9, 2025, THY will increase its flights from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Denver International Airport (DEN) from four times a week to seven, enabling daily service. These flights will utilize modern Airbus A350 aircraft.
Denver International Airport is notable for its rapidly growing passenger traffic. Serving 31 million passengers in 1995, Denver now accommodates 69 million passengers and offers direct flights to over 210 destinations in 14 countries. With this addition, Denver becomes THY’s 347th destination, and the airline is expected to increase the number of its routes in the U.S. Potential new destinations being considered include cities like Orlando, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and Charlotte.
THY’s International Expansion and New Flight Plans
In addition to its U.S. expansion, THY is preparing to launch new flights to other continents. The airline plans to start the Istanbul-Santiago route on December 18, 2024, making it the first Turkish airline to fly to Chile’s capital, with a connection in Sao Paulo (GRU). THY has also advanced its flights to Sydney, which will now begin on November 28, 2024; the first flight will be on the Istanbul-Kuala Lumpur-Sydney route.
Currently, THY serves several U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York JFK, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington Dulles. Aiming to fly to a total of 20 cities in the U.S., THY is expected to announce new routes as part of its expansion strategy.
