Turkish Airlines Accelerates Its Southeast Asia Growth: More Flights to Bangkok and New Service to Phnom Penh

Turkish Airlines is increasing its weekly flights to Bangkok to 21. With new flights to Phnom Penh starting on 10 December, the airline further expands its network in Southeast Asia.

As part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia, Turkish Airlines (THY) is significantly increasing capacity on its Bangkok and Phnom Penh routes.

Effective 27 October 2025, the number of weekly flights between Istanbul and Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, will rise from 17 to 21. Additionally, starting 10 December 2025, Turkish Airlines will launch three weekly flights to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, via Bangkok.

New Destination: Phnom Penh

With Phnom Penh joining the airline’s network, Cambodia becomes the seventh country Turkish Airlines serves in Southeast Asia. The flights will operate on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with a 353-seat capacity.

With the addition of this route, Turkish Airlines will operate 24 weekly flights via Bangkok.

THY–Thai Airways Partnership Strengthens

Thanks to the partnership between Turkish Airlines and Thai Airways International, the total number of weekly flights on the Istanbul–Bangkok route will exceed 40. This cooperation offers passengers greater flexibility, more transfer options, and increased capacity.

Expanding Southeast Asia Network

Turkish Airlines currently flies to the following destinations in Southeast Asia:

  • Hanoi (Vietnam)

  • Bali and Jakarta (Indonesia)

  • Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

  • Manila (Philippines)

  • Bangkok (Thailand)

  • And now: Phnom Penh (Cambodia)

The airline continues to pursue a strategy of increasing frequencies and routes in the region. With rising demand, both commercial and tourism interest in Southeast Asia is expected to become more accessible via Turkish Airlines.

Part of a Global Strategy

This move aligns with Turkish Airlines’ vision to boost its competitiveness in the Asia-Pacific market while positioning Türkiye as a key global hub. Given Southeast Asia’s growing economy, tourism, and business travel potential, the strategic importance of these new routes is even more pronounced.
