Turkey-Sweden Security Meeting Postponed Due to Aircraft Malfunction

The Security Mechanism meeting between Turkey and Sweden, scheduled at the ministerial level, has been postponed due to a malfunction on the plane carrying the Swedish delegation. The plane, transporting Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard and Justice Minister Gunnar Strummer, experienced an issue while flying over Polish airspace, forcing the delegation to return to Sweden.

The meeting was set to discuss Sweden’s progress in its commitments to combat terrorism, a key condition for Turkey’s approval of Sweden’s NATO membership. Hosted by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara, the meeting has been postponed to a later date, with relevant ministries currently coordinating to determine the new schedule.
