Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared the June 2025 air transport statistics of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) with the public. Minister Uraloğlu announced that the number of passengers who preferred air travel in the first half of the year reached 108,811,724, setting a new record.

Uraloğlu emphasized that this figure exceeds the combined population of 17 European Union member states, drawing attention to Turkey’s remarkable success in air transportation.

Over 23 Million Passengers Traveled in June

In June, domestic passenger traffic reached 9,298,154, while international passenger traffic amounted to 14,080,501. Including direct transit passengers, the total number of passengers reached 23,391,286. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a 2.6% increase in passenger traffic.

In the same month, total aircraft traffic on domestic and international routes, including overflights, was recorded at 223,459, indicating a 2.5% increase compared to June 2024.

3.3% Growth in January-June Period

In the first half of the year, airports served 46,562,512 domestic passengers and 62,172,150 international passengers. Including direct transit passengers, the total number of passengers increased by 3.3%, reaching 108.8 million.

During the same period, aircraft traffic reached 454,841 flights on domestic routes and 410,226 on international routes, with total flights including overflights amounting to 1,134,447. This represents a 5.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

Istanbul Airport at the Top

One of Turkey’s mega projects, Istanbul Airport maintained its leadership by serving a total of 39,037,955 passengers over six months. In June alone, the airport hosted 1,734,000 domestic passengers and 5,404,000 international passengers, totaling 7.1 million passengers. Aircraft traffic during this period reached 260,250.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport Hosted 22 Million Passengers

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport hosted a total of 22,109,146 passengers in the January-June period. Aircraft traffic at the airport reached 128,559 during the same period.

Increase in Cargo Transportation: 2.3 Million Tons Moved

Minister Uraloğlu stated that a total of 2,335,564 tons of cargo were transported in the first half of the year. Domestic cargo traffic accounted for 418,000 tons, while international cargo traffic reached 1,917,000 tons.

24 Million Passengers in Tourism Airports in Six Months

A total of 23,961,768 passengers were served at airports located in tourism hubs during the first six months of the year. Antalya Airport stood out with 14.5 million passengers, followed by İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport with 5.5 million, Muğla Dalaman Airport with 2 million, and Milas-Bodrum Airport with 1.5 million passengers.
