On Saturday, June 15, 2024, Turkey recorded 5,573 flights in its airspace, making it the country with the third-highest air traffic volume in Europe. According to measurements by the Performance Review Unit of the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Turkey achieved this rank among 41 EUROCONTROL member countries.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu commented on the achievement, highlighting Turkey’s significant rise in the aviation sector as a result of substantial investments. Minister Uraloğlu noted that the number of flights landing and taking off from Turkish airports on June 15, 2024, increased by 17.8% compared to the same day the previous year, reaching 4,227 flights. He emphasized that this growth underscores Turkey’s increasing influence in aviation and its goal to lead in Europe.
Minister Uraloğlu also mentioned that the rise in air traffic has become more pronounced with the start of the summer season, reinforcing Turkey’s position as a crucial hub in Europe.
With this achievement, Turkey aims to enhance its effectiveness in air navigation services in Europe and become a more recognized player on regional and global scales.
