Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that direct flights between Trabzon and Kocaeli, starting on August 9, will significantly save time for travelers. Minister Uraloğlu stated, “The first flight will be on August 9. The initial flight will depart from Trabzon at 06:00 and from Kocaeli at 08:25 in the morning. These flights will be held every Friday until September 20, initially planned for a period of 7 weeks. The number and times of the flights can be increased based on passenger demand.”
The flights, operated by Pegasus Airlines, will take place every Friday between August 9 and September 20. The flight from Trabzon will depart at 06:00 and reach Kocaeli in one hour and 50 minutes. The flight from Kocaeli will depart at 08:25 and passengers will arrive in Trabzon at 09:55, just one hour and 30 minutes later. Minister Uraloğlu emphasized, “We are reducing the 995-kilometer distance, which takes approximately 14 hours by intercity buses, to one and a half hours.”
Minister Uraloğlu highlighted that the flights between Trabzon Airport and Kocaeli Cengiz Topel Airport will contribute to the region’s economic development. “We continue to bring Turkey’s east and west closer. With this initiative, which makes Trabzon and Kocaeli close neighbors, we will provide significant contributions to the economies and tourism potential of both cities and the surrounding provinces by making population mobility more flexible,” he said.
Uraloğlu noted that they aim to offer passengers a fast and comfortable travel experience with these new flights and that the number and times of flights could be increased based on passenger demand from the start date. This new transportation alternative will provide great convenience for both business and tourism travel.
