Sichuan Airlines has expanded its codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines to cover European destinations. Under the new arrangement, passengers traveling from China to Europe via Istanbul will be offered more connections and travel options.
THY and Sichuan Airlines Expand Cooperation for the European Network
China-based Sichuan Airlines has expanded the scope of its ongoing codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines (THY) to include European destinations. Under the new arrangement, which has been gradually implemented as of July 2026, Sichuan Airlines will be able to sell tickets under its own flight code on selected European flights operated by THY departing from Istanbul.
With the expanded cooperation, the international connectivity of the two airlines will be further strengthened, while offering more flight alternatives for passengers traveling between China and Europe.
THY’s European Flights Included in the Codeshare Agreement
Under the new agreement, Sichuan Airlines will be able to market THY’s European flights departing from Istanbul under its own flight code.
The destinations included in the codeshare agreement are:
- Berlin
- Birmingham
- Copenhagen
- Edinburgh
- Frankfurt
- Manchester
- Munich
- Prague
These flights will be operated by Turkish Airlines, while Sichuan Airlines will handle ticket sales and marketing activities under its own flight code.
Connections Between China and Europe Are Being Strengthened
With the expanded codeshare agreement, the aim is to provide passengers traveling from China with easier access to major European cities via Istanbul.
The new arrangement is expected to offer passengers greater flexibility in travel planning by increasing connecting flight options and to further strengthen the commercial cooperation between the two airlines.
Istanbul Strengthens Its Importance as a Transit Hub
With the expansion of the agreement, Istanbul is strengthening its position as a major transit hub for passenger traffic between China and Europe.
Thanks to the new joint flight network, passengers will have access to a wider destination network under a single reservation, while both companies are further expanding their cooperation in the international market.
