Turkish Airlines (THY) has taken a significant step in the aviation sector by using a “sustainability-linked loan structure” model for the first time to finance two new Airbus A321 Neo aircraft. Through this innovative financing model, THY aims to expand its fleet at the lowest possible costs.
In a statement from THY’s Press Office, it was emphasized that the company strengthens its commitment to sustainability on the global stage by using award-winning financing models. By applying the “sustainability-linked loan structure” for the first time, THY has financed two Airbus A321 Neo aircraft, known for their fuel efficiency.
Pioneering Move in Sustainability
THY Board Member and Executive Committee Member, Associate Professor Dr. Murat Şeker, highlighted the integration of the company’s sustainability achievements with aircraft financing. Şeker stated, “We believe that this structure will contribute to our growth and fleet renewal strategies and support our goal of becoming a carbon-neutral airline by 2050,” emphasizing the importance they place on sustainability efforts.
