After the European Union imposed a flight ban on Southwind, claiming it had Russian ownership, now Istanbul-based airline Tailwind is facing obstacles.
Tailwind was unable to obtain permission to fly between Antalya and Kaliningrad using European airspace. Initially rejected due to incomplete/incorrect documentation, the delayed process raises questions of whether there is an obstruction.
The tour operators contracted by Tailwind for Kaliningrad operations were unable to conduct the first flight scheduled for April 28th. Tailwind announced that flights would not commence until at least May 15th following discussions with European Union authorities.
Tour operators ANEX and PEGAS remain hopeful for a resolution, offering various refund or alternative holiday options to customers. PEGAS Touristik canceled the Kaliningrad-Antalya program and announced that Moscow-transferred Antalya tours would be conducted with Nordhwind and Southwind.
