A Boeing 737-300 cargo aircraft belonging to Serve Air, based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, cancelled its flight due to a tire burst that occurred during take-off at N’Djili Airport in Kinshasa. No casualties were reported.
The Boeing 737-300 cargo aircraft, registered 9S-AII and operated by Serve Air of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, experienced a technical malfunction during a planned cargo flight from Kinshasa N’Djili Airport to Mbujimayi.
According to information obtained, as the aircraft was accelerating for take-off from Runway 06 at N’Djili Airport, one of the right main landing gear tires burst, prompting the crew to abort the take-off. Thanks to the pilots’ swift and correct response, the aircraft was safely brought to a stop on the runway.
Subsequent technical inspections revealed that both tires on the right main landing gear had sustained severe damage and had disintegrated.
As the aircraft remained on the runway, Runway 06 at N’Djili Airport was temporarily closed to flight operations until the aircraft was removed and the necessary safety inspections were completed.
Authorities stated that a technical investigation into the incident has been launched and that the necessary procedures related to flight safety have been implemented.
