Secret Atlas has added Explorer Yacht Aureum to its expedition fleet, the first purpose-designed 36-guest expedition ship built for Antarctica. The vessel joins the company’s roster for the 2027/28 and 2028/29 Antarctic and South Georgia seasons.
The ice-class yacht will sail under the Secret Atlas name through a long-term partnership with Antarpply Expeditions. It debuts alongside two new itineraries, the Antarctica By Air and South Georgia In Depth Expedition Micro Cruise programs.

Aureum carries just 36 guests across 22 cabins, including Suites and eight Single Cabins with no single supplement, a notable departure from the group sizes typical of larger expedition ships. Onboard spaces include a panoramic observation lounge, bridge lounge, outdoor viewing decks, an open observation bow, a wellness area with sauna and outdoor hot tub, and a restaurant where all guests dine together in one sitting.

Secret Atlas maintains a guide-to-guest ratio of one Polar Guide for every six guests across its expeditions, giving travelers direct access to expedition leaders, scientists and naturalists.
Bookings for Antarctica and South Georgia departures aboard Aureum are open for the 2027/28 and 2028/29 seasons, including the South Georgia In Depth Expedition Micro Cruise and the South Georgia & Antarctica – Shackleton Special Expedition Micro Cruise.
The new Antarctica By Air program departs from the Secret Atlas expedition hub in Puerto Natales, Chile, flying guests directly to Antarctica to cut down time spent crossing the Drake Passage. Options include the Antarctic Circle By Air Expedition Micro Cruise and the Antarctic Peninsula By Air & Sea Expedition Micro Cruise, which sails one way from Ushuaia.
