Salt Lake is positioning itself as a year-round destination for travelers seeking both urban experiences and mountain adventures with the launch of its new “America’s Mountain City” campaign.
Developed by Visit Salt Lake, the new campaign aims to showcase Salt Lake as a destination where travelers can combine outdoor recreation, culinary experiences, cultural attractions and major sporting events in a single trip.
“Salt Lake is proudly claiming our title as America’s Mountain City because no other destination offers a world-class urban experience and a mountainous playground that is so effortlessly combined,” said Kaitlin Eskelson, President & CEO of Visit Salt Lake, in a media statement. “From our rich cultural roots and booming culinary scene to our growing status as a premier global sports hub heading into the 2034 Winter Games, Salt Lake provides an unmatched ‘one-stop shop’ lifestyle.”
A City Built for Both Outdoor and Urban Experiences
A key focus of the campaign is Salt Lake’s accessibility. Visitors can travel from downtown restaurants, hotels and cultural attractions to mountain destinations in approximately 40 minutes, allowing travelers to pair outdoor adventures with city experiences during the same stay.
The destination offers year-round appeal, from skiing and snowboarding in winter to hiking, biking and outdoor exploration during warmer months. Travelers can also experience Salt Lake’s growing food and beverage scene, local arts communities, nightlife and historic neighborhoods.
Sports Tourism Drives Destination Growth
Salt Lake continues to strengthen its reputation as a major sports destination, with the arrival of the NHL’s Utah Mammoth joining the NBA’s Utah Jazz and other professional and collegiate sporting events.
The city is also preparing for its return to the global stage as host of the 2034 Winter Games, with continued investment in tourism infrastructure, hospitality offerings and visitor experiences.
Visit Salt Lake is also supporting local recovery efforts following recent wildfires, donating $5,000 to the Utah Resilience Fund to assist first responders and emergency personnel working throughout the state.
