In September 2024, Russia’s aviation sector achieved remarkable growth, with Russian airlines carrying 10.7 million passengers, according to data released by the Federal Air Transport Agency. This figure marks a 4.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
Seat occupancy rates also saw a rise, climbing from 89.1% in September of the previous year to 90% this year, indicating more efficient use of aircraft capacity.
Major Russian carriers such as Aeroflot, Pobeda, Rossiya, S7, and Ural Airlines were responsible for transporting 7.5 million passengers in September alone, reflecting a 6.8% increase from last year.
Experts credit the surge to strong demand for domestic flights and airlines’ capacity expansion strategies. This growth highlights the resilience of the Russian aviation sector, which continues to recover despite global challenges. The upward trend is expected to continue through the remainder of the year.
