Qatar Civil Aviation Authority Participates in Latin American Civil Aviation Commission Meeting

The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) attended the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC) held in Guatemala City, the capital of Guatemala. The QCAA delegation was led by Vice President Mohamed Faleh Al Hajri.

Emphasis on Strategic Cooperation

Speaking at the meeting, Al Hajri noted that the strategic partnership between QCAA and LACAC has continued to strengthen following the cooperation memorandum signed in 2022. He highlighted that capacity-building initiatives, such as scholarship and training programs, are important for both parties.

Al Hajri also emphasized Qatar’s commitment to supporting the professional development of aviation experts in Latin America. Plans to launch new training courses aligned with the region’s priorities were also discussed during the meeting.

Expanding Connectivity through Open Skies Agreements

QCAA officials stated that Qatar has signed open skies agreements with 21 LACAC member countries. These agreements not only enhance air connectivity but also contribute to economic growth, cultural exchange, and social cooperation.

During the meeting, Qatar’s efforts in civil aviation and its leading role in advancing international cooperation were acknowledged. In particular, ways to strengthen collaboration were discussed ahead of the upcoming General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

High-Level Bilateral Meetings

As part of the event, Al Hajri held bilateral meetings with LACAC President Azucena Zelaya, COCESNA officials, and senior representatives from the civil aviation authorities of Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Cuba, and Uruguay. These discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships and enhancing cooperation in civil aviation.
