Virgin Atlantic Cabin Crew Member Faces Court for Reporting for Duty Over Alcohol Limit

A Virgin Atlantic cabin crew member in the UK appeared in court after crashing her car on the way to the airport and reportedly arriving for duty with four times the legal alcohol limit.

Incident Details

44-year-old Kathryn Scott was accused on June 12 of exceeding the alcohol limit while on duty. According to information presented to Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court, Scott had consumed wine the night before and had to be removed from her flight at Heathrow.

On the day of the incident, Scott crashed her black Hyundai at an intersection. She left her vehicle at the scene and was taken to the airport by a member of the public. Flight schedules show Scott’s flight was from Barbados to Antigua.

Alcohol Test and Court Proceedings

Scott admitted to drinking two glasses of wine approximately eight hours before her flight. Tests revealed 91 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, more than four times the UK legal limit of 20 mg for flight crew.

In court, Scott denied the charge, stating she had a diagnosed liver condition that prevented her from metabolizing alcohol normally. She also claimed the crash was caused by a fault in her vehicle’s steering.

Current Status

Kathryn Scott, from Ottershaw, Surrey, was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in the same court on December 11.
