The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that a twin-engine Cessna 414 aircraft crashed into the ocean off the coast of San Diego, resulting in the deaths of all six people on board.
Departed from Arizona, Was Returning to Phoenix
According to flight tracking data from FlightAware, the aircraft departed from Arizona and was en route back to Phoenix. However, it reportedly crashed shortly after takeoff for reasons that remain unknown.
Wreckage Found in the Pacific
U.S. Coast Guard officials announced that search and rescue teams located the wreckage about five miles (eight kilometres) off the coast of Point Loma, San Diego. Teams are working intensively in the area to recover all parts of the aircraft.
FAA: No Survivors
In its initial official statement regarding the crash, the FAA confirmed that all six people on board had died. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway, with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) also involved in the technical analysis.
