The U.S. Department of State has approved a significant defense sale to Australia. In a written statement by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), part of the Pentagon, it was announced that approval has been granted for the sale of aircraft equipment and support services worth $404 million in line with Australia’s plans to modernize its MC-55A air fleet.
The sale package includes spare parts for the aircraft, maintenance and repair support, as well as technical and logistical support services. The official notification was delivered to the U.S. Congress, formalizing the process.
The DSCA statement emphasized that the military equipment sale will enhance Australia’s air operational capabilities and support regional stability. It also noted that the sale will not adversely affect the military balance.
