An unusual incident occurred at Zurich Airport on Wednesday. A visually impaired passenger managed to board an Edelweiss Airlines Airbus A320 flying to Gran Canaria without a valid boarding pass. The man was discovered hiding in the plane’s toilet.
Hid in Toilet, Detained by Police
Edelweiss spokesperson Andreas Meier stated that the incident was discovered during the final passenger count. According to eyewitnesses, the man had hidden in the aircraft’s toilet. After the crew found the suspect, the Zurich Cantonal Police were called. The police intervened quickly and took the passenger into custody.
Flight Delayed by 3 Hours
Due to security procedures, all passengers were re-screened. As a result, the flight, originally scheduled to depart at 13:25, took off at 16:40 after an approximately three-hour delay.
Passengers on board expressed their frustration with the long wait. One passenger told Swiss media, “We waited on the plane for three hours before departure.”
