Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced the new ceiling prices for domestic direct flights. These prices will be in effect from May 1 to July 31, 2024, and will continue to be applied thereafter.
According to Minister Uraloğlu’s statement, the ceiling prices for tickets on domestic direct flights are set as follows:
- From May 1 to July 31, 2024: 80% of the tickets on a flight will be priced at 2,000 lira, while the remaining 20% will be priced at 3,250 lira.
- Starting August 1, 2024: 80% of the tickets on a flight will be priced at 2,500 lira, while the remaining 20% will be priced at 4,000 lira.
This new regulation aims to establish a standard framework for determining airfare prices, allowing passengers to plan their travels more predictably.
Flight Cancellations and Compensations
Minister Uraloğlu also addressed the issue of flight cancellations. He stated that if the rights defined by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation are not provided, airlines must compensate passengers. In this context, it was reported that there were 1,413 applications related to flight cancellations nationwide by the end of March this year.
Airlines and Free Market Conditions
Uraloğlu emphasized that airlines operate under free market conditions and have the right to determine their own flight schedules. He noted that starting flights to airports, adding additional routes, and changing flight times are all at the discretion of the airlines.
Evaluation of Applications
Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that flight applications are evaluated in accordance with the relevant legislation and this process is coordinated by the Ministry.
