On 30 May 2025, an Iberia Airlines Airbus A320-200 passenger aircraft departed from Madrid Barajas Airport for a scheduled flight to Palma de Mallorca when it encountered severe turbulence mid-air. During the turbulence, three cabin crew members who were serving in the cabin were injured.
In a statement released by the Spanish Civil Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation Commission (CIAIAC), it was noted that the turbulence occurred while the cabin crew were carrying out service duties, making the injuries unavoidable. It was reported that two of the injured cabin crew members are in serious condition and were taken to hospital after receiving initial medical attention.
Despite the turbulence, the aircraft completed its flight and landed safely at Palma de Mallorca Airport. It was announced that none of the passengers were injured, and an official investigation into the incident has been launched.
