A harrowing incident occurred at Antalya Airport when a plane belonging to Corendon Airlines, operating the Köln to Alanya Gazipaşa route, had to make an emergency landing. Panic ensued as a result of a tire burst in the front wheel during landing, forcing the pilots to execute emergency landing procedures. With the fuselage of the aircraft touching down on the runway, all 190 occupants, including 184 passengers and 6 crew members, were safely evacuated. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported during the incident.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure issued an official statement regarding the incident, confirming that the subsequent tire burst occurred but emphasized that there was no damage to the runway. The statement further announced that runway notes were taken following the incident and that anticipated flights would be redirected to Antalya. It was also stated that following the technical team’s inspection, procedures for the aircraft’s removal from the runway would be carried out.
