India’s Next-Generation Aircraft Tejas Crashes at Dubai Airshow 2025

On the final day of Dubai Airshow 2025, an Indian HAL Tejas fighter aircraft crashed. The pilot lost his life, and the flight demonstration was temporarily suspended. An investigation has been launched.

During a flight demonstration on the final day of Dubai Airshow 2025, an Indian HAL Tejas fighter aircraft crashed, resulting in the death of the pilot. The incident occurred at around 14:10 local time and produced a large cloud of smoke on the far side of Al Maktoum International Airport.

The first footage captured by eyewitnesses showed the aircraft losing control and crashing into the ground, with a fireball rising from the crash site.

Pilot Was Unable to Use the Ejection Seat

In an official statement by the Indian Air Force (IAF), it was confirmed that the Tejas pilot had been unable to activate the ejection system and lost his life in the accident. The statement read:

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of life. A court of inquiry has been set up to determine the cause of the accident.”

Fuel Leak Allegations Denied

Although the Turkish defence publication SavunmaSanayiST claimed that a fuel leak had been observed on the same aircraft the previous day, according to information relayed by Gulf News, India’s Ministry of Defence denied these allegations. It was stated that the viral footage was actually routine condensation discharge from the aircraft.

Flight Display Temporarily Suspended

Following the crash, the flight demonstration was temporarily halted. Event officials instructed attendees to return to the main exhibition area. Approximately 90 minutes later, the flight display resumed.

In a statement made immediately after the incident, the Dubai Media Office said:

“A Tejas fighter aircraft has crashed and the pilot has tragically lost his life. Emergency teams responded swiftly to the incident and are managing the situation on-site.”

Initial Findings of the Crash

Shared footage shows the aircraft rolling onto its back and descending uncontrollably, with the pilot unable to recover in time. Rescue teams quickly reached the crash site, and investigations are ongoing.
