According to the June 2026 First Wave Report published by EUROCONTROL, iGA Istanbul Airport became the leader in departure punctuality performance among Europe’s major hub airports. Achieving a 94.3% on-time departure rate, Istanbul Airport also earned the distinction of having the lowest average departure delay among Europe’s major airports during the same period, with an average delay of only 3.7 minutes.
The achievement is regarded as one of the tangible indicators of operational efficiency, air traffic coordination, and cooperation among stakeholders despite the intense pace of operations.
Istanbul Airport Ranks First in EUROCONTROL Data
According to the June 2026 data published as part of EUROCONTROL’s daily First Wave Report, iGA Istanbul Airport outperformed Europe’s leading hub airports.
The on-time departure performance ranking for June was as follows:
- iGA Istanbul Airport: 94.3%
- London Heathrow: 88.5%
- Madrid: 86.8%
- Frankfurt: 86.6%
- Amsterdam Schiphol: 86.4%
- Paris Charles de Gaulle: 84.0%
With these results, Istanbul Airport ranked first in departure punctuality among Europe’s largest hub airports.

Europe’s Lowest Average Departure Delay
In addition to leading in on-time departure performance, iGA Istanbul Airport also drew attention with an average departure delay of just 3.7 minutes.
