Air France flight AF6212 from Paris-Orly to Nice was evacuated due to a passenger falling ill. A comprehensive cleaning was carried out on the Airbus A320, and the flight was delayed.
Air France’s Paris-Orly–Nice service turned chaotic due to a passenger who became unwell on board. While the cabin was evacuated, a thorough cleaning was conducted on the Airbus A320 aircraft, and the flight was delayed by more than one hour.
Moments Causing Panic During Boarding
Flight AF6212 was scheduled to depart at 12:35. However, the process came to a halt when a passenger suddenly fell ill during boarding.
According to a passenger identified as “Noémie,” who spoke to Nice-Matin, the boarding process initially progressed normally. However, the queue suddenly stopped, and the visible panic among the cabin crew created concern among passengers.
According to the crew’s statement, the visibly unwell passenger headed to the lavatory as soon as they boarded the aircraft.
Cabin-Wide Health Crisis
The situation quickly escalated from a minor discomfort to a serious hygiene crisis. Allegedly, the passenger was unable to reach the lavatory in time, and multiple areas inside the Airbus A320 cabin were affected.
It was reported that the aisle and at least one lavatory were soiled. Emergency services were called to the scene. Fire brigade teams evacuated the passenger from the aircraft.
Due to the incident, a comprehensive disinfection process was carried out by a specialised cleaning team before the aircraft was cleared for departure.
Air France: “Medical Incident”
An Air France spokesperson confirmed the delay, stating that the issue occurred due to “a passenger falling ill on board.”
Although the official statement used professional language, eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaotic and nauseating.”
The Airbus A320 aircraft, registered F-GKXI, landed in Nice at 15:15 CET, more than one hour behind schedule.
Hygiene and Operational Safety Priority
In accordance with aviation procedures, when a situation that may pose a biological risk occurs inside the cabin, the aircraft cannot continue operations without undergoing detailed cleaning and disinfection.
Air France officials emphasised that passenger and crew safety is the priority, and it was learned that passengers were apologised to for the delay.
No other health issues were reported in connection with the incident.
