The promises made following our Work-to-Rule (WOC) action, which we conducted to protect the rights of our air traffic controllers and the interests of our country, have not been fulfilled.
HTK-SEN: Our Demands Have Been Ignored
Despite the successful execution of the WOC action from June 20 to 30, 2024, no steps have been taken towards a solution, and no concrete efforts have been made in line with the promises given. The impact of our activities has been ignored and labeled as “ineffective,” yet, contradictorily, regular explanatory reports have been requested from the relevant field offices.
Sectoral Issues Are Deepening
Denying the impacts of the WOC exacerbates sectoral issues further. Attempts to downplay public reaction and awareness by citing reasons such as the congestion of European airspace do not contribute to solving the problem. Our air traffic controllers have tried to express their concerns through bureaucratic channels in good faith and paused the WOC action during the winter based on promises given. However, the failure to fulfill these promises is the root cause of the current problems.
The Importance of Showing Willpower for a Solution
Dragging out a matter that can be resolved quickly and driving it to a deadlock with a policy of denial and stubbornness benefits no one. Our WOC action will continue resolutely until our legitimate demands are met. If no concrete solution is produced, any consequences brought by the WOC action, which will continue throughout the summer, are the responsibility of those who deliberately leave the issue unresolved.
New Work Period: July 3-14, 2024
To raise awareness and ensure steps are taken in line with our legitimate demands and the interests of our country, our Union Executive Board has decided to conduct a Work-to-Rule action from July 3 to 14, 2024.
We call on all concerned parties to listen to the voices of our air traffic controllers and support the rightful struggle against bureaucratic obstacles that turn a blind eye to our country’s loss of hundreds of millions of Euros.
