Hong Kong Airlines has expanded its long-standing codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines (THY) to strengthen its global flight network. With this update, the joint flight coverage now includes flights to Australia’s two major cities, Sydney and Melbourne. This allows passengers to enjoy a much smoother, single-stop travel experience via Hong Kong.
Smoother Connections to Australia
Under the new agreement:
Hong Kong Airlines will add its “HX” code to THY’s Hong Kong – Istanbul flights.
Turkish Airlines will begin using its “TK” code on flights operated by Hong Kong Airlines to Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Sydney, and Melbourne, which is scheduled to start in December 2025.
This move significantly expands the connection network between the two airlines, providing stronger transfer options both toward Asia and Europe.

Louis Li, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Airlines, expressed his satisfaction with the strengthened partnership:
“Istanbul is one of the most important gateways to Europe. Since 2018, our codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines has enabled our passengers to travel comfortably to Europe via Istanbul. Likewise, THY passengers can easily connect from Hong Kong to Japan, Thailand, and major Asian cities. This collaboration strengthens our relations while enhancing the passenger experience.”
