Airbus Posts Strong Financial Performance in H1 2025: Rise in Commercial Orders, Surge in Net Profit

Airbus reported a net profit of €1,525 million for the first half of 2025. While commercial aircraft orders increased by over 50%, the company remains committed to its strategic goals despite engine-related delays in A320 deliveries.

Airbus SE (Stock symbol: AIR) has announced its consolidated financial results for the first half of the year as of 30 June 2025. The company recorded a significant increase in commercial aircraft orders and nearly doubled its net profit compared to the same period last year. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury stated that commercial performance remained strong overall in the first half of the year.

Airbus received a total of 494 gross aircraft orders in the first six months of 2025, representing a 51% increase compared to the same period in 2024. After cancellations, the net order count stood at 402 aircraft. The company’s order backlog reached a historic high of 8,754 aircraft.

Slight Decline in Commercial Aircraft Deliveries

Airbus experienced a minor decline in deliveries due to engine supply issues in the A320 programme. A total of 306 aircraft were delivered in the first half (2024/H1: 323). The A220, A330, and A350 programmes progressed in line with production targets.

Revenue from commercial aircraft reached €20.8 billion (a 2% decrease), while Airbus Helicopters’ revenue increased by 16% to €3.7 billion. The Defence and Space division posted a 17% increase, reaching €5.8 billion.

Net Profit Up 85%

The company reported a net profit of €1,525 million for the first half of 2025 (2024/H1: €825 million). Consolidated adjusted EBIT reached €2,204 million (up 58%). Earnings per share rose to €1.93.

Consolidated free cash flow stood at -€1,584 million, primarily due to supply chain-driven capacity ramp-up and engine-related production delays. Gross cash position remained at €21.1 billion, with a net cash position of €7 billion.

No Change in Production Targets

Airbus maintains its plan to reach a monthly production rate of 75 aircraft for the A320 Family by 2027. It aims for 14 aircraft per month for the A220 by 2026, and 12 per month for the A350 by 2028. A330 production will be increased gradually based on customer demand.

The company also announced that it is targeting Q4 2025 to complete the acquisition of certain work packages from Spirit AeroSystems, pending regulatory approval.

2025 Guidance Reaffirmed

Excluding the impact of tariffs, Airbus reaffirmed its 2025 targets:

  • Around 820 commercial aircraft deliveries

  • Approximately €7 billion in adjusted EBIT

  • €4.5 billion in free cash flow before customer financing

New Board Nominee

The Board of Directors announced its intention to nominate BMW AG CEO Oliver Zipse as a non-executive director at the 2026 Airbus Annual General Meeting. Zipse is seen as a key leader expected to make a strategic contribution to Airbus’s global vision.
