Following the recently expanded flight agreements between Turkey and China, a new step is being taken in air traffic. Hainan Airlines, one of China’s leading and internationally awarded airlines, has submitted an official application to the Civil Aviation Administration of China to launch flights to İGA Istanbul Airport.
With the new agreements, opportunities have opened for both new destinations between the two countries and increased flight frequencies on existing routes. During this process, İGA Istanbul Airport, which has increased its recognition in the region through collaborations with China, has become an important hub preferred by Chinese carriers.
If the application is approved, Hainan Airlines is expected to begin direct flights from Chongqing, China, to Istanbul. This will further strengthen İGA Istanbul Airport’s role between Asia and Europe by increasing connectivity options in the Chinese market.
Authorities have stated that after the application is finalized, flight schedules, frequency information, and ticketing processes will be announced.
