Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services Limited, or Hacis, has begun running a road service into Vietnam as part of an effort to widen the catchment area of its Hong Kong business.
The Hactl-owned logistics company stated that broadening its SuperLink China Direct offering will channel extra cargo volumes toward Hong Kong International Airport and give Vietnamese firms and overseas shippers a more convenient and economical intermodal arrangement combining air and road transport.
This scheduled road feeder service operates under customs bond and has linked the Chinese mainland with Hong Kong International Airport for a number of years.
According to the company, a trial of the service has already concluded successfully, with Hacis working alongside Vietnamese logistics provider U&I Logistics Corporation to complete a pilot consignment.
That inbound shipment traveled by truck from Vietnam to Wuzhou, then continued to Hong Kong through Hacis customs-bonded road feeder operations.
Hacis indicated that the new offering should produce extra inbound and outbound cargo volumes passing through Hong Kong, bolstering freight growth at HKIA and opening fresh possibilities for freight forwarders and logistics service providers, while giving Vietnamese businesses and overseas shippers more flexibility and a broader set of routing choices.
Ringo Chan, executive director of Hacis, remarked that backing from Customs authorities in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland has allowed SuperLink China Direct to become a dependable cross-boundary logistics answer linking Hong Kong with the Chinese mainland.
He noted that extending the service to Vietnam represents the first time this intermodal network has grown past the Chinese mainland, with scope to reach additional parts of Asia later on, thereby reinforcing Hong Kong regional connectivity.
Chan added that by joining Vietnam to Hong Kong extensive worldwide air cargo network, the new service gives customers more routing choices and greater flexibility, while producing additional cargo flows through Hong Kong and generating fresh opportunities for the logistics sector.
Nguyen Xuan Phuc, chief executive of U&I Logistics Corporation, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration with Hacis, saying it creates a new logistics corridor for Vietnamese enterprises beyond conventional sea and air transport, allowing cargo to travel overland through the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and onward to international markets.
He said the arrangement improves the flexibility and dependability of cross-border transportation and gives businesses a wider set of options.
The service additionally relies on Hong Kong Single E-lock Scheme, a customs clearance initiative introduced by the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department together with Mainland China Customs to simplify cross-boundary cargo transhipment through electronic vehicle locks and GPS tracking technology.
