Flights Between Azerbaijan and Iran Restart

Flights between Azerbaijan and Iran have resumed. AZAL Airlines has launched Baku–Tehran services as of Saturday, following the reopening of the Baku–Tabriz route.

Critical Step on the Azerbaijan-Iran Route: AZAL Flights Resume After Years

AZAL Airlines has resumed Baku–Tehran flights, following the relaunch of the Baku–Tabriz route.

Air traffic between Azerbaijan and Iran is coming back to life. Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Tehran, Ali Alizade, announced on social media platform X that AZAL Airlines has restarted Baku–Tehran–Baku services.

In his post, Alizade stated:

“After several years, upon the instruction of the President of Azerbaijan, the first direct flight on the Baku–Tabriz–Baku route was carried out, and these services will initially operate twice a week.
In addition, starting from Saturday, AZAL Airlines will also resume Baku–Tehran–Baku flights.
May it bring goodness and prosperity. Thanks to all those who contributed.”

As may be recalled, direct flights between Azerbaijan and Iran had long been suspended due to tensions in bilateral relations and the pandemic. The launch of the new services is seen as a step that will contribute to the development of diplomatic and economic relations on the Baku–Tehran route.
