Spain has announced that it will send two planes, each with a 6-ton capacity, to assist Turkey in combating wildfires as part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
According to Spanish official Kalin Stoyanov, the firefighting planes are likely to join the efforts tomorrow. Minister Stoyanov, located in the Yambol villages area where the fire situation remains dynamic, stated that they have begun to contain one of the fronts. However, high temperatures and strong winds are complicating the efforts.
Aerial Support and Collaborative Efforts
Four helicopters, including those owned by the Ministry of Defense and those sent by the Czech Republic, supported the firefighting efforts today. Interior Ministry officials are working alongside their Turkish counterparts on one of the fire fronts, covering Kraynovo, Istranca, Golyam Dervent, and Voden. Minister Stoyanov assured that there is no danger to people and that sufficient technical equipment is available, expressing hope that joint efforts will bring the fires under control.
Donation Campaign and Thanks
The Bolyarovo Municipality has launched a donation campaign for those affected by the fires. Mayor Hristo Hristov expressed gratitude to his counterparts from Elhovo and Tunca municipalities, the Governor of Edirne, the firefighters, farmers, foresters, and the citizens who have offered support.
