The Boeing 777, operating as flight TK-1979, departed from Istanbul Airport at 08:54. While approaching London Heathrow Airport for landing, the aircraft received a “go-around” instruction from the tower and ascended again. The plane’s maneuver to abort landing at a distance as close as 12 meters from the runway caused concern among passengers.
Having completed the go-around maneuver without issue, the plane landed safely at Heathrow Airport on its second attempt.
